street style: Former Police Kawasaki 1000

The beach cruiser handlebars, Indian-inspired fiberglass fenders with spiral struts and a skull brake light was the first thing I noticed about this ex-police Kawasaki 1000 parked at Cycle Gear in Lomita, California.

Around the front we find twin-skinny pipes and a flat-black paint job the makes it tough to find out the cause of an oil leak.

The split-ring a Harley Davidson headlight and single mirror impart a 'barely legal' look to the bike.

"Who needs gauges," quipped the owner, who explained he just got the bike running the other day so he can attend the El Diablo Ride to Mexico on May 5th-9th. It always brightens my day to meet a real biker riding a real bike somewhere far, far away.
